Chris Spriggs: Beating Your Demons, Defying Death, and Attraction Marketing

Chris Spriggs was close to death with a blood clot in his brain. He was depressed and suicidal when he discovered his online purpose. His story and exclusive interview is below.

Thank you for this interview, Chris! I’m excited to learn more about your story. So, let’s get started!

Where were you born and raised, what was childhood like, and what did you want to be when you ‘grew up?’

I was born and raised  in a town called Llanelli, Wales and I lived with my Mam (Marlene) Dad (Peter) and older Sister called Davina.

I had a great childhood because my parents and grandparents did the best they could for us and I grew up with a group of friends where we all lived within the same area and we are still close friends now (37 years of friendship). The only down side of childhood was I was bullied a little bit till one day the bully wasn’t a bully anymore !

Growing up was great times and out all the time playing rugby, football and getting up to all sorts as boys do, as soon we got home we were out and summer was the best because out at 10am and home at 10pm with parents dragging us home. Many stories to tell!

There was only one thing I wanted to be growing up and that was a Professional Rugby Player. I would sleep, eat, and dream Rugby. Llanelli was a rugby town.

What did your parents do for a living and was there any Entrepreneurship in the family?

There was no Entrepreneurship within our family, my parents worked hard with my Dad working full time in a car factory which was a thriving company till late and my Mam looked after family and her Mother went to work in the evenings at a Police Station and my sister was a nurse which lead to become a high qualified midwife. Llanelli is a working class town where factories played a big part community income within families.

My parents did the best and instilled respect, manners, to be proud and always said ‘treat others how you would like to be treated ‘ into my sister and me, also do the best you can, till this day I keep their wishes.

What kind of jobs did you do and when did you suffer the blood clot?

I had one job before I suffered the brain injury, it was at a local window company as a fabricator making the windows. I started this at the age of 17 years old. I did turn down a carpentry apprenticeship because I needed the money.

The dark day was August 2nd 1998, age 22 years old, when I suffered a Brain hemorrhage. It happened within the off season in summer when I was playing ‘bowls’. I felt numbness within my left side then went down to the floor and felt weary.

So, the other players put me in the car and took me home to my godmother’s house(Marina) who lived 2 doors away….my parents left 2 days ago to visit my sister in Germany, Brother In Law Steve was in the army.

That’s when the hemorrhage really kicked in, my left side went in total numbness with my left side of my face dropping, no feeling, movement and my speech went bad.

That’s when I was rushed into the hospital by the ambulance and going in and out of consciousness. I was then in the hospital for 2 months learning to walk again like a baby and do normal daily activities that we take for granted.

Then after a few years I found my dream job as a Professional Rugby Development Coach which lasted nearly 9 years before illness came back.

You became depressed and even suicidal. How did you pull out of this dark period, and what advice do you have for people who are struggling with Depression and possibly suicidal?

Yes, this was a dark period in my life because I was on a lot of medication to control my left side and was sick of taking medication. So how did I pull through…tough question.

You have to dig deep inside and pull a positive out from within to carry on in life and think of who you would be leaving behind, how it would affect them if you can, also try and talk to someone, don’t bottle it up.

I was so grateful of my girlfriend then, now my wife, of pulling the tablets out of my mouth that day.

When did you discover internet marketing, what was your first two years like, and can you tell us what you would change if you started over today?

I discovered Internet marketing in 2013 when I was living with illness and wanted to create extra income. But, I didn’t really know what I was looking for and lost money due to being scammed to be honest. But we learn from our mistakes !

The first two years was a huge learning curve and tough at times because not knowing the correct skills and marketing the wrong way, I failed in 3 companies before now, but it was a blessing because I take great strength from the lesson I’ve learnt.

What would I change…. good question . I would think of what goals you want and find someone who has those goals and follow, learn and take action on what they teach you. And invest in yourself!

~

What is the biggest mistake you see new internet marketers make, and how can they fix it?

The biggest mistake I see internet marketers making are : not building relationships with people and spamming links to them, speaking before listening to people and not knowing their pains, no tactics, strategy and plan to achieve their goals. Literally spam their company links and images all over social media.

You need to build relationship with people and find out their pains and if your product or business solves the problem and listen first so you know what problems or even what they have.

Plan, Plan and Plan daily, months and year goals and pick one method of marketing until you have x amount of leads coming in and give value first by creating content. Learn attraction marketing!

~

You discovered online attraction marketing through using a system, can you tell us about MLSP and what it does?

Yes, I discovered attraction marketing back in late 2015 which after a learning curve it has changed my brand and business in the right way you should conduct yourself online.

When I found MLSP it opened up a whole new world and blew me away because of the training, webinars, the great tools like CRM, Funnelizer funnel and now the sites where you can build a website in no time.

My vision is  to share Attraction Marketing techniques and what I learn to team members but also with all other Network Marketers who are indeed of help.

I love your blog! How old is it, how many posts are on it, and what is your daily traffic like?

Thanks Erik, only the last 1.5 years have I really started working harder on my blog because of not knowing the correct way. My blog is around 1 & half years old, but I did have another blog before so I just converted some of the posts over to new blog.

I have 52 posts and video on my blog and my traffic is improving by learning how to use youtube and blog together to direct eyeballs on my content. To be honest I need to look up the correct numbers.

Blogging will help you discover more confidence in your life. You will  realize you have unique views and have something to offer others and your energy will help others.

Other benefits of blogging and how it can help you:

  • You’ll start online relationships that turns into true friendships offline around the world.
  • Instead of being a part of the problem, you’ll now be a part of the solution.
  • Once you overcome your fears of blogging, you’ll also gain the strength to do more video-based marketing as well.
  • By writing blog articles, you’ll naturally have more value to share on your other social platforms.
  • You will help other people in home business.

This is ‘Why blogging saved me!’ and gave me the tools now to help and develop other people in this industry.

~

What’s the best way to generate leads for you these days, and can you share a technique?

One the best way to generate leads is doing videos, optimize them to your blog, youtube channel because when on your blog you can’t lose them or be shut down. At the moment the hottest tool is Facebook LIVE broadcast .

Facebook will reward you more reach on the platform and more people will see you and the value you share, so here’s what I do: Do a FB live then download and save to computer, then upload to youtube and add keywords you want to target and embed the video into your blog with a post, share the post using social media buttons.

~

What is your favorite book right now and why?

At the moment I’m reading ‘ The Miracle Morning For Network Marketers’ . This book so far shares how the top people within the industry start off the day and daily methods. It’s really an eye opener on how simple they keep it. I enjoyed many other books so that I can connect and I share.

~

What are your goals for 2023?

My Goals for 2023 are to continue to grow my brand each day and my primary business. Continue to learn from MLSP and grow that as well. One of my big goals is to build a coaching program towards the end of year.

To keep learning new skills and to keep working on the ones I am developing.

~

What is your favorite quote and why?

We are all young, live till we die and age is only a number! After the death of both my parents in last 5 years I see people being negative about age. In my view we just mature and gain experience. Just believe in yourself and do the best you can to help each other!
