Terry Gremaux From 35k a year Goldminer to $400k in Network Marketing

Terry Gremaux has a wild story. From being an underground gold miner to being a top social media trainer and network marketer. His powerful story.

Wow! Thanks for accepting this interview, Terry. I’ve been tracking you down on social media for years. I’m excited to learn more about you. So, let’s get started.

Where were you born and raised, what was childhood like, and what did you want to be when you ‘grew up?’

I grew up in Lewistown, Montana and as I knew it, my childhood was awesome.  Looking back, we didn’t have much money at all but I never knew that.  I spent 31 years of my life in Montana and now I live in Lewisville, TX.  As a child, I wanted to grow up to be a fireman.  I loved helping people and seeing smiling faces!

What did your parents do for a living and was there any Entrepreneurship in the family?

My parents are ranchers in Montana.  My dad runs a cow/calf operation and they own about 7,000 acres.  My mom is the lead dispatcher for 911 in the state of Montana.  They are workers not entrepreneurs at all.  They once told me when I was excited to quit my job, “Terry, you should pay off your house first”…

What was it like to become a gold miner mining precious metals, working 80+ hours a week? And, what happened that made you decide enough was enough?

It was interesting.  The most tired I’ve ever been in my life was during these 18 hour days knowing that life flat sucked.

I was young (my mid 20’s) so energy was flying.  I loved playing with dynamite and that’s what attracted me.  In fact, who wouldn’t want to blow up stuff for a living.  I  mean, I loved it.   I also got paid more for getting more done.  Almost like network marketing but a touch different.

I remember a day in 2006 where I had a seizure (I have epilepsy) because of sleep deprivation.  I almost died, ambulance was called and I was hauled in.

In that moment, I had to make a decision.  I believe god was there that day to show me a different way.  I was too blind to see therefore he clearly showed a different way of making a living.  And there was network marketing.

When did you discover network marketing, what was your first two years like, and can you tell us what you would change if you started over today?

Well, I failed in 9 companies in my first 7 years.   Those years were chocked full of pitches and being the person you don’t want to be.  The person you hate to run into.  I had no clue what I was doing.  I’m so grateful for what happened.  I wouldn’t change a thing because those 7 years and all the people who told me I couldn’t do it fueled my desire to make them wrong.

What advice do you have for new network marketers?

Learn from someone who is CURRENTLY in the game and do exactly what they say because it’s worth it.

~

You recently went from $35,000 a year, to $270,000 last year, to $400,000 this year. How did your business grow so fast? Was it a certain team dynamic, mindset, or what?

It was a mindset that I could actually do it.  I was actually worth that.  You’ve got to remember, everything happens in your mind long before it happens in real life.  If you, even for a minute, believe that you can’t do it…  Then, you w0n’t.  It grew so fast because I decided and got the training necessary to back that up.

You’ve been on some television. What networks and what was your message? Why were you invited onto TV?

I actually have only been written about.  I haven’t be on TV per say.  I have been written about in newspapers and online networking sites.  I wrote a press release and learned that reporters are always looking for good content.

I love your blog! How old is it, how many posts are on it, and what is your daily traffic like?

Thanks!  It’s about 2 years old with 297 posts and I don’t know my traffic.  Not a numbers guy at all but we are starting a new brand very very soon!

~

What’s the hottest way to generate leads for you these days, and can you share a technique?

For me, it’s google adwords.  I love generating leads on google adwords because very few people in my industry do it.  That gives me a leg up.  I like search traffic.  People who are searching for a subject typically are buyers!

What is the right way to build rapport on Facebook when prospecting?

It’s the same way to create a friend.  When thinking about prospecting, think about making friends.  Bottom line, you need to make a friend.

Ask yourself, how do I make a friend and it typically starts with listening.  Listening to what they want or what they want to talk about.

It doesn’t start with a pitch and typically I never pitch on the first interaction – that’s just not normal.  I make a friend, once they like you, it’s very easy to get them to take a look at your company!

You have a huge library of videos on YouTube. How has video helped your business and what advice do you have for video marketers?

I think video for me is a place for others to get to know me.  Video allows people to get closer to you.  Video allows people to know my personality.  I think without video, the sales process is just longer.  I highly suggest it unless you’re just not good on video.

~

What is your favorite book right now, and why?

Think & Grow Rich.  I really don’t think it will ever change.  Why should it?  Success is about the mind and attracting what you need to you.  It will probably be my favorite book until I die.

~

What are your goals for 2017?

Hit a minimum of 500k and increase our profit inside our marketing company by 10%.  (keep more money)  Also, I have started a continuity program I’m looking to have 400 members in by year end.  I want to be residually be making 40k plus by year end.
